The Western Union agent network accepts banks, retail businesses and foreign exchange houses. Each participant goes through formal enrolment and handles transfers with ID verification and AML compliance.
Operations an agent performs - cash collection and cash disbursement for transfers; - transfers to bank accounts; - transfers to e-wallets.
Partner requirements A retail location, equipment, formal enrolment in the programme and local compliance are required. Renting out personal accounts or routing other people's transfers through private individuals is ruled out: the network works only with properly registered outlets.
Geography The recruitment page is aimed at onboarding in the United Kingdom, while the remittance network itself is international. A UK page does not mean a team from another jurisdiction will be accepted, so terms for each country need to be confirmed separately. The invitation gives no confirmed transaction volumes or commission rates, and no publication date.
How to become a Western Union agent location 1. Check that your business is a bank, a retailer or an FX house with a physical outlet where customers can be served. 2. Apply through Western Union's official agent recruitment page for your country rather than through private intermediaries. 3. Pass enrolment: company documents, beneficial owners and the compliance programme are reviewed. 4. Set up the equipment and train staff on ID checks and AML rules before the first transfer.
For customers, an agent location is simply a place to send or collect a transfer; for the business, it is a service provider role under Western Union's rules. Nominal is a directory and does not recruit agents itself.
