Vancity

Vancity is a Canadian credit union, Vancouver City Savings Credit Union, founded in 1946. Its business range includes the Independent Business Account, Full-Serve and Self-Serve packages, a USD chequing account and accounts for community organisations.

Accounts and fees

The listed services are business chequing, USD accounts, trust accounts and Interac e-Transfer. Published fees are CAD 6.50 a month for the Independent account, or nothing at a balance of CAD 1,500; from CAD 15 for Full-Serve; from CAD 8 for Self-Serve; and CAD 3 for the USD account, or nothing depending on the balance. Businesses with combined balances from CAD 2 million can have individual Prime Accounts, and lawyers and realtors can open trust accounts.

Regulation and deposit protection

Vancity is regulated by the BC Financial Services Authority. Deposits are covered by the Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (CUDIC), which Vancity states covers 100% of eligible deposits, subject to the corporation's terms.
