How a PayFac works
A payment facilitator holds one master account with an acquirer and boards sellers beneath it as sub-merchants. The business does not go through full bank underwriting: the facilitator runs the checks itself, so onboarding is usually faster and simpler than a direct acquiring contract. Settlement and dispute handling also go through the facilitator.
