Card processing for itch.io became a problem in July 2025, when Stripe stopped serving its adult content category. The indie game and digital goods marketplace then said it was looking for alternative processors. Whether the search is still active is not confirmed.

Processor requirements The provider must approve lawful adult content, while the platform handles moderation, age controls, scheme registration where applicable and jurisdiction checks. The company states zero tolerance for sexualised depictions of minors and of real people: such sellers are banned and buyers refunded. It does not claim that all hosted content is eligible for acquiring.
Geography itch corp is a US company, and the marketplace operates worldwide; target acquiring jurisdictions are not named. No payment volume or budget has been published.
