Coinbase

Coinbase is a centralised exchange covering retail crypto purchases, Advanced Trade and the institutional Prime service. Retail users trade crypto for crypto and exchange fiat for crypto, with funds held in custodial exchange accounts.

Retail

Assets named are BTC, ETH and USDC, and Visa is the payment method listed. Identity checks confirm the customer and are used to prevent fraud, and the requirements depend on region and account. A separate support page exists for customer requests. Regional restrictions and the list of tradable assets are to be checked before use.

Institutional services

The institutional offer includes prime brokerage, RFQ trading, OTC execution and Exchange loans. RFQ quotes are all-inclusive, with fee details in the post-trade report, and settlement is instant on acceptance. The terms are agreed with an account manager, and access is through a web interface and a REST API, with developer documentation published.

Institutional credit

Selected institutional clients in eligible regions can receive overcollateralised loans in BTC, ETH and USDC on open terms through Exchange, subject to underwriting. The loans extend the trading infrastructure and fund positions.
